Odaiba is a popular destination with families in Tokyo, and it’s not hard to see why. With various museums and entertainment options geared at younger children, there’s plenty on this manmade island to keep them occupied. A favorite place here is Decks Tokyo Beach, a ship-themed shopping mall.

Decks is designed so that you can pretty much spend most of, if not an entire day, within the complex. For starters, Madame Tussaud’s wax museum has a branch in Tokyo right here, while the Legoland Discovery Center and Tokyo Trick Art Museum are sure to keep adults and children alike entertained for hours. Tokyo Joypolis is a futuristic take on a theme park, and if nothing else, visit for the scream-worthy roller coasters and surreal rides inside. There’s even a haunted house on the 4th floor.

You’ll find many restaurants at Decks, including the world-famous Bills from Sydney, and a branch of Gompachi, which famously made its Hollywood debut in Tarantino’s Kill Bill. For a more interesting meal, you might want to head to the Odaiba Takoyaki Museum, and snack on grilled octopus balls at several of the takoyaki restaurants there.

At night, Decks is a popular place for a romantic date. Many of the bay-facing restaurants have outdoor terraces affording a full view of the Tokyo metropolitan skyline, and the year-round Odaiba illuminations.
