Marunouchi House in the Marunouchi Building has a 7th floor outdoor terrace where you can enjoy glorious, unfettered views of Tokyo Station while enjoying a delicious meal from one of the restaurants. It’s well worth checking out if you’re in the vicinity.

The 7th floor of Shin-Marunouchi Building near Tokyo Station is home to Marunouchi House, which feels like something of a hidden gem. Its location in the heart of Marunouchi makes it frequented mainly by office workers in the evenings, and that means it tends to be quite empty on weekdays.

Marunouchi House comprises mostly restaurants and bars up here. Though, oddly enough, there’s a small ‘library’ that looks more like a living room with pamphlets on the tables. There’s all kinds of food available at the restaurants, ranging from soba to tapas to Spanish-Italian cuisine.

The best part about Marunouchi House is that you can bring your food out onto the expansive balcony. The outdoor terraces offer fantastic views of the surrounding Marunouchi area, though the side facing Tokyo Station is a clear winner - you have an unfettered and magnificent view of the Tokyo Station buildings below. Note that outside food and drinks aren’t allowed here, so you’ll have to order something from one of the restaurants.

While Thursday and Friday nights are the liveliest, with DJ gigs and exhibitions, it’s open for lunch as well. On weekday afternoons, it’s a lovely place for an outdoor lunch and a spot of reading in the sun. Or, if it’s raining, it’s equally pleasant relaxing on the comfortable armchairs inside.
