The OMO5 Gotanda by Hoshino Resorts is one of the best hotel values in Tokyo. It’s got views, style and a location close to Haneda Airport and right on the Tokyo loop line in a quiet but convenient area (plenty of shops and restaurants nearby).

OMO5 Tokyo Gotanda by Hoshino Resorts At A Glance
- Great for: solo travelers, couples, small families
- Strong points: low rates, on the loop line, family rooms, views
- Sample rates: US$60 to US$250

OMO5 Tokyo Gotanda lobby.
Okay, Gotanda is not on most people’s list as a great place to stay, but it’s really not bad at all. First of all, it’s a super easy taxi ride from Haneda (much closer than many Tokyo neighborhoods) and it’s on the Yamanote Line (Loop Line) roughly midway between Tokyo Station and the big west side hubs of Shibuya and Shinjuku. But, since most people don’t look for hotels in Gotanda, the rates here can be ridiculously cheap: if you book via the hotel’s own site you can get twin rooms as low as US$70 before tax!

Outdoor patio at the OMO5 Tokyo Gotanda.
The hotel is located up in a tower and the views from some of the rooms are fantastic, and even if your room doesn’t have one of these eye-popping views, you can enjoy the views from the outdoor patio area. And one of our favorite features here are the “dan-dan rooms” which have a bunk bed above the main bed and a sofa that can be turned into a bed, making it great for a three-person family.

All in all, we think the OMO5 is a great choice for those who want to save money on accommodation while still enjoying comfortable rooms, good facilities and Tokyo views. Give it a close look!
