Pizzakaya in Roppongi claims to serve the best pizza in Tokyo. It’s a tall claim, but their Californian-style pizza is indeed very good - fantastic washed down with some top-notch American craft beers.

A short walk from Roppongi Station is Pizzakaya, a Californian-style pizzeria which claims to serve the best pizza in Tokyo. To be fair, this isn’t a shot at Italian pizza - it’s all about excelling in that most West Coast of pizza styles.

You won’t see any marinara on the menu, since Naples this ain’t; this is honest-to-goodness Californian-style pizza, and they’re proud of it. Pepperoni is a crowd favorite, but there’s plenty of more outre choices as well - lime chicken with guacamole and chicken curry are just some of the more adventurous pizza toppings to try.

American favorites like Buffalo wings and enchiladas also appear on the menu.

The name is - as you may have guessed - a portmanteau of ‘pizza’ and ‘izakaya.’ You won’t find sake, but you will find many excellent American craft beers to go with your slice. If you’re missing the USA, this is a good place to have a taste of home.
