Not only does Rainbow Raw Food in Ebisu serve vegan fare, the dishes are either completely raw or prepared at temperatures under 48 degrees. Plus, it’s actually delicious. Great if you want to feel like a whole new person after lunch!

Vegan food isn’t as difficult to come by these days as it used to be. However, there are very few places in Tokyo that really break away from mainstream offerings and do it well. Rainbow Raw Food is an exception to the rule: all their food is vegan, but also entirely raw and/or prepared at temperatures under 48 degrees.
Raw, vegan food doesn’t mean rabbit food though. Rainbow Raw Food’s dishes are bursting with flavour. Think fruit-and-veg smoothies, 50% raw vegan burgers, vegan ice cream, Mexican burritos, and more. They even have organic wines and enzyme cocktails to go with all this food.

One of the most interesting items on the menu is the mock monkfish liver raw sushi roll set. This ‘raw liver’ pate is made with nuts and seaweed. It doesn’t really taste like monkfish liver, but it’s strangely delicious and moreish, and pairs well with the tart pad thai salad and the daily smoothie. This is a fantastic choice if you want to eat vegan sushi in Japan – it’s not something you can find at your average sushi restaurant!
All this clean and healthy eating at Rainbow Raw Food seems like it might be expensive. Lunch here, however, won’t set you back more than JPY1500, and you’ll feel lighter and more energetic after a meal here. As a bonus, they have English menus and at least one staff member speaks English.
