Constructed in the elegant Art Deco style and featuring some of René Lalique’s gorgeous decorative glass work, the museum is worth visiting for its architecture and interior alone. The building represents a wonderful balance of Japanese and Western aesthetics with respect to the French Art Deco style, and it’s a must-see for architecture enthusiasts.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum takes its name from the gardens it’s surrounded by - a ‘teien’ being a Japanese-style garden. There’s a Western-style garden as well as a Japanese strolling garden on the museum grounds. So, if you’re not keen on the museum, it’s also possible to visit just the gardens for a mere 100 yen.
