Tsujita Nihombashi Yaesu is my go-to ramen bowl in Tokyo. It’s usually my first meal when I land in Tokyo. The broth is thick and rich, the noodles firm and chewy, and the charshu (pork slices) are sublime. Best of all, it’s steps from Tokyo Station.

I’m a “kotteri” ramen guy, meaning that I like thick meaty soup. Tsujita serves a classic koteri bowl, which you can enjoy either as the classic noodles-in-soup-bowl style, or as tsukemen, where the noodles come separately and you dip them in the soup.

I brought my son here recently and we both ordered the noko buta kuzushi ramen (rich pork ramen) which comes with a hank of pulled pork on top. It’s really overkill of pork, but that’s what ramen is all about. I think about this ramen a lot when I’m not in Japan.

You buy tickets from a vending machine outside (Google Translate through your phone will help here, since it’s all in Japanese) but before you whip out your phone, an English-speaking attendant will usually come out and help you buy a ticket.
