For excellent sushi at moderate prices in an easy-to-enter restaurant, I strongly recommend Tsukiji Sushiko Yaechika. It’s in the Yaechika food floor directly under Tokyo Station.

Sushiko is a bright, clean and welcoming restaurant. Neither the surroundings nor the sushi is fancy, but the focus here is on the sushi, which is excellent. On my last trip, everything I ordered was delicious. While it’s easy to order sushi sets here, I prefer to order a la carte in a place like this. I ordered five of my favorite things (uni, ama-ebi, toro, hamachi and katsuo) and then I asked the itamae-san (sushi chef) to serve me three of his recommendations. I forget their names, but they were amazing. You could always try this strategy and I think you’ll be happy.

A lot of office workers eat here so your best bet is to go outside of lunch rush hour (noon to 1:00pm) or on the early side for dinner.
