There are several excellent, approachable and affordable sushi restaurants very close to Tokyo Station. Here are my three favorites, one midrange and solid, one great for kids, and one a little nicer.

The Takeaway
- Tsukiji Sushiko Yaechika: Great mid-range sushi, easy to enter, reasonable price
- Sushiro Yaechika: Fantastic automatic sushi place, great for kids (and hungry adults)
- Sushi & Bar Fujiro: Stylish, higher-end but still approachable and affordable

Tsukiji Sushiko Yaechika
Tsukiji Sushiko is my favorite sushi chain in Tokyo. It offers really good sushi individually prepared in front of you (if you sit at the counter). The quality is always high but the prices are at the low end of midrange: lunches run about ¥3000 here and dinners around ¥5000.

This branch is in the Yaechika underground shopping and dining complex which is right underneath the Yaesu (east) side of Tokyo Station (you can easily access it from the shopping streets under Tokyo Station). Just be sure to go outside the lunch rush hour (noon to 1:00pm) or before the dinner rush, which starts around 6:00pm if you don’t want to wait in line. For more details, see our full Tsukiji Sushiko Yaechika review.

Sushiro Yaechika
My kids love sushi and it’s great to find a casual place where they can relax and order for themselves via an iPad. Sushiro is perfect for this. The sushi here is modern and made to please kids and adults who want the umami level of their sushi cranked way up, hence addition of things like mayonnaise, tempura (even in the sushi) and desserts that alone are worth coming for.

No, this is not a Michelin-starred sushi temple, but it’s a fun, friendly and approachable place to eat great sushi where no Japanese ability is required. And it’s very easy on the wallet: a meal here will run about ¥2000 per person. It’s also in the Yaechika underground shopping and dining complex under the Yaesu (east) side of Tokyo Station. For more details, see our full Sushiro Yaechika review.

Sushi & Bar Fujiro
Sushi & Bar Fujiro is a smart and stylish sushi bar on the 7th floor of the Shin-Marunouchi Building, which is directly opposite the Marunochi exits of Tokyo Station (in the Marunouchi House food floor complex). The sushi here is approaches what you’d get at some of the famous (and hard to enter) high-end sushi-ya in Tokyo, but here, you just walk up to the counter and grab a seat.

The sushi here is amazing and you’ll be in good hands by trusting the chefs and ordering one of their omakase courses (around ¥4000 at lunch and ¥8000 at dinner). There is some simple English on the menu. Note that Fujiro is located in a smart office building, so you’ll feel out of place in sloppy tourist garb or shorts. And, because it’s in an office building, you’ll avoid lines if you go outside the peak lunch hour of noon to 1:00pm. For more details, see our full Sushi & Bar Fujiro review.
